With the help of Donna and Jan, who contributed teas, Lily has now completed the Earl Grey Tea Challenge. "Lily's tea", Twining's Earl Grey, was the target scent. The other five shakers on the wheel contained Earl Grey teas by: Republic of Tea, Stash, Bigelow, Mighty Leaf and Sierra. Lily's nose was able to identify the Twining's in 3 successive tests of 10 reps each with 100% accuracy.
If the dog can differentiate the same tea compounded by different companies, one hopes that the dog can also find the common element in seizure scent from different donors.
If this is the case, then it should be possible to train the seizure alert with available scent provided by any donor.
